Can the design community have a greater impact? Does Social Design imply social responsibility? This talk will answer yes to both.

Evangelos will cover examples of how Social Design projects have helped changed the course of events around the world from Ireland to Iran and particularly last years'#logo31 movement in Greece, where the youth division of the Greek conservative republican party ignored the concerns of the design community - and watched their crowdsourcing project backfire as a result.

By showing how collectives of creative professionals have used social media to support their cause, he'll also explore opportunities for the future of Social Design to refresh Dublin.

Evangelos is based in the School of Computer Science and Statistics at Trinity, where he's developing and designing databases and their UIs, while simultaneously trying to figure out how User-Center Design works with data management systems.

He's also doing research for his PhD on Interaction Design for Adaptive Information Systems (having originally studied Information Systems Engineering at the University of the Aegean in Greece) and he's also worked previously as a freelancer designer and developer.
